Rereading and New Editions
Often people are surprised that when I mention "read Shirley" it's not about physical therapy but physical education, they soon see the need for teaching and not training. The book Children Moving is a classic, yet when I read blogs with suggested reading everyone has the same book list and this is not included for some reason. When visiting coaches or when sharing facilities, I find that those that have had a little PE background seem to get people to do the right things through great teaching. Coaching is not cueing or writing the uber workout, it's guiding people to move under various conditions. If you are interested in coaching I think the book should be part of one's library. It's refreshing to get a real book with paper, not marketed by lame testimonials, and printed with margins that have more print than white space. Shop around for something used as the text is a true cornerstone to modern coaching.
