Since the Beijing Olympics actually officially being today, I thought I’d put up this video from the Sydney Olympics. Check it out. I would guess that this type of performance makes up about 1-2% performances at any given games. Is this a good embodiment of the Olympic Spirit or is does this make a mockery of everyone involved. Post thoughts to the forum.

Do we really need strength and conditioning? Over the past several weeks I have seen and heard different situations that make me question the viability of the concept of strength and conditioning and underscore the need for athletic development. I am a firm believer that words create images and images create action. Strength and conditioning creates two images, heavy lifting all the time and runni

After waiting what seemed like a lifetime, I finally had the opportunity to advance my education by attending the USATF Level II Coaching School. I would by lying to you if I didn’t mention that sufficient nervousness preceded entering the weeklong excursion. Although, as time drew closer the opportunity to learn from a group of instructors, whose knowledge and expertise have produced countless elite level athletes, changed that nervousness to excitement.

Today, ELITETRACK and the other sites that I own were down for about 2 or 3 hours. This marked the last straw in a long line of screwups by my webhost. The most notable of these screwups was the 5 weeks that ELITETRACK and the other sites were down for last winter. As a result, it has finally pushed me over the edge to go ahead and move all my sites to a different host. This is a painstaking proce

This is the infamous “pre-season” training period where teams will practice twice even three times a day to get ready for the season starting in late August. I maintain that more games and matches are lost during this period because coaches overwork their athletes during this period. It is too l

Mind you, this isn’t necessarily equivalent to steroids or other PEDs which really take exercise to bring out their full benefit....this pill IS exercise (at least as far as the physiological response). Kinda freaky. In a related article, Ron
