As a DI collegiate track athlete, I’ve been exposed to all types of sprinters. As a 400/200 runner, the diversity seems endless. Recently, I’ve been looking for new spikes that accommodate my type of sprinter/individual style as I feel each spike works for each runner differently. I have been coming across the term “for the power sprinter” when looking at some spikes, what exactly does that mean and how does a spike accommodate that person? What types of spikes fit what types of styles? Thanks.

So I was told that I had overpronation after going to a foot specialist type of store, and I was definitely not willing to shell out $300 CDN for some customized insoles. So I picked up some Superfeet insoles (Green) for my feet. I was told that my left arch is literally flat but the right one is better.

So I’m sure that next year for track I will be running the 400/200/100 races. When I buy track spikes, should I get fit my insoles in and see if they fit? Or does it actually matter at all since I’m just going to be running less than a minute anyway?

Since I’m a pretty poor High School kid, I obviously can’t afford top of the range spikes up here in Canada. So I’m going to go to one of the outlets down in the U.S. and see if they have some discount stuff. All my meets will be on a rubberized track, but occassionally I will run on some concrete/blacktop kind of a surface with no absorption.
I know that I need sprint spikes, and also I shouldn’t use spikes on a concrete surface since it wears out my spike? What do I wear then?

What should I look for in spikes?
-How many spikes?
I know the Maxcat’s have 5, Monster Fly’s 7, Powercat’s 8.
The more the better?
-How should it fit?
-How should it feel like?
-Differences between a sprint spike and other spikes?

By the way, I found some Puma’s in my basement that belongs to my dad. They feel very light, have a flexible sole, which has just pattern of grooves in the bottom. You can just touch the tip to the back. Thin layering of fabric on top? Is that a track flat?

I know these are supposed to be tighter then normal compression tights, but I’am afraid I may have gotten the wrong size. For those who has experience with these powerwebs, can you rate how tight they are to you?
My main question is the “knee pad” which you can see in the embedded picture, are those supposed to actually cover your knee or be above it. Perhaps it may not affect perfromance heavily wherever it goes, but it help me decide wether it is the correct size or not.
From analyzing the stitching and structure of the tights, it doesnt look like it should fit over the knee, but of course i could be wrong

Don’t tell me to return it, all I can say is, its too late.

Are there any other comments regarding this product, good or bad.

hi, I’m looking for a pair of sprint spikes; I’m a 100-200m runner, maybe only 1 or 2 400m (relay) in a year. what type of spikes do you suggest? few years ago I had the asics cybersprint and it was very good; after that a bad experience with another ascis spike (asics ciberflash), then I switched to nike G5 (2005 model, I had good opinion) and last year I had the adidas demolisher 2 (I think the worst sprint spike ever for me).
for this year I’m in doubt betwen asics Lite-Ning, nike R2 e nike maxcat2.
I see in a shop maxcat2 and it seems very good. anyone tried this spikes? I had seen that nike changed complitely the plate for maxcat2 now it seems as it of nike celar.

I think there's more adidas spikes coming out, not too sure about Adidas yet…..
