Prior to LSU, Todd coached at the University of Miami where he was voted the top women’s jumps and combined events assistant in the East Region by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in 2007.The Hurricanes enjoyed great success under Lane’s tutelage as he coached his athletes to a total of three All-America honors, eight All-Atlantic Coast Conference, four ACC titles and one current school record. In addition, Brenda Faluade and Amy Seward swept postseason honors by being named the ACC Indoor Field Performer of the Year and ACC Outdoor Field Performer of the Year, respectively. Faluade won ACC titles in both the indoor triple jump and outdoor long jump during the 2007 campaign, while she was also a two-time All-American with a second-place finish in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March and a seventh-place finish in the event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. She set a new outdoor school record in the long jump with a top mark of 21 feet, 5 inches. Seward was also an All-American during the outdoor season as she finished seventh in the long jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after winning an ACC indoor title and NCAA East Regional title in the event along with an ACC outdoor title in the heptathlon. She was named the ACC Meet Most Valuable Field Performer for her effort at the ACC Outdoor Championships as she also earned All-ACC honors in the long jump along with her heptathlon crown. In addition to the outstanding performances of Faluade and Seward, Deandra Doyley earned All-ACC recognition in the long jump during the outdoor season with a runner-up finish at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, giving the Hurricanes a 1-2-3 finish in the event.
