Alrite, the deal is, my legs have always been weak, but considering there weakness, I have been pretty fast in the past. I’m not saying blazing or anything, but for having weak legs I felt explosive. Now, I’ve been trying to build leg strength, and I have defenitely been improving, my squat has gone up, I’ve felt good with hammy curls and the leg press etc. But, since I started working out my legs, and since they’ve gotten stronger, I have actually felt a little slower, and less explosive, my first step doesn’t feel as good as it used to. I do do my squats fairly slow, not on purpose just when the weights heavy, I don’t explode up extremely fast or anything like I’ve heard your supposed to do. My question is if this is normal initially, if any of you have experienced this before, and if I should maybe lower the weight and do the exercises a little more explosively opposed to slower, in a power sense.. cause I’m just not feeling it. I’m sure some of you have had that feeling where you don’t feel as good as you did at a certain time, and I’m at that stage right now, and I want to get some explosion/speed back. Thanks guys.

Get someone to teach you the olympic lifts if you are not already doing them, they should help you feel more explosive.

What you’re experiencing is really common. Throwers in particular get this feeling often because they tend to lift heavy very late in to the season and then experience big gains in speed and power when they back off. I’d say it’s nothing much to worry about. Just keep up the normal speed work and add some more explosive lifts as Rice suggested and you’ll be fine.

senri,
lessen the weight if cleans are too hard for you. If you have to start with the bar. That is the only way youll get better and learn how to do it correctly.

High pulls are a decent exercise but as Quik suggested if you want to get all of the benefits the OLs have to offer you’ll probably need to lessen the weight a little and do the normal lift too.

man i feel weak. You all do it over 135lbs, i can only do with 95lbs, barely. The technique is to frustrating, despite seeing everybody do it. I seem to be getting stronger, but the power is’nt there…sigh
