for any coaches who have had interviews for asst positions how long does the intreview process takes, want to hear from others before i list my view

I've seen turn-around times range from 10 day to 5 months. I'd say the average is closer to 6 weeks from the date of job posting to the first day on the job for the newly hired.

im more so talking about how long does the interview take in person etc.

Is this for a college or high school position? It could go from a couple of hours to most of a day.  It really all depends on who's doing the interview and what information you want to find out during your time there.

Are you interviewing with the head coach only?  The entire staff?  Administrators?  How well does the interviewer know about you prior to the interview?  What is the nature of the relationships between your personal/professional network contacts and the interviewers?  There are many variables that can make up that interview time, but don't try to rush it.  Make it a point to meet the entire staff while your there.  If you don't know the staff ahead of time, make it a point to know something about them before you get there and definitely know something before you leave the interview. After all, you'll be working with them.

For collegiate positions the intervirew process is typically all day with meetings with the head coach along with ADs, associate ADs, and others depending on on the place and position. For strength coaches you might even meet with the sport coaches you'll be working with.

In my experience for college assistant coach positions they will tend to start with a fairly brief phone interview of the top 5-10 candidates, then the 2-5 candidates they are most interested in will be brought in for all day meetings as Mike described.  If it's a school with a low budget they sometimes do the whole interview process over the phone.

i agree, for strength coaches it normally begins with a meeting with the asst sport coaches, head sc, head sport coach, lunch, trainers etc.

if the head sc really like you they may just tell you that they are bringing in 5-6 candidates but they may only bring you in, i have heard of cases like this before.
