The path to mastery will have many bumps in the road. Never lose sight of the goal. 8 metres.

Effects of leg stiffness on single leg jumping performance (as in the horizontals).

Is it a literature review research paper or something that you are actually collecting data on?

To be honest, you're going to find it nearly impossible to do anything ground-breaking as a Master's thesis. Ground-breaking work typically takes several years to set up….requiring at least doctoral level time frames and commitment.

For 'doable' and applied ideas, some other ideas might be takeoff velocity comparisons of the top long jumpers from 2006 and the top long jumpers from say 1991 or 1988 (when LJ was at it's peak). Speed is the most fundamental element of long jump performance and many of today's long jumpers aren't even capable of running as fast as those of year's past regardless of how technically proficient they may be…which is why marks are down so far from 15-20 years ago.
