I've put together a sprint round table with several notable friends / colleagues: Dan Pfaff (coach of more sub-10 sprinters than any coach in history), Gary Winkler (hurdle coach extraordinaire), Frans Bosch (author of highly regarded "Running" book), Peter Weyand (noted researcher from Harvard / Rice), and, hopefully Ralph Mann (USATF sprint biomechanist…he has yet to confirm). The topic is sprinting mechanics and training and I'll be interviewing everyone personally and publishing the end product.

I've already put together some tentative questions but I wanted to open this up and see if there was anything specific you'd like to have answered. This is a rare opportunity to ask experts from a wide swath of varying fields (coach, researcher, etc).

1. what are the best recovery methods for sprinters? Other then contrast showers, and the conventional messages, is there other alternatives?

2. For the 100m would 80-120m be sufficient for speed endurance near the end of a program when one is in a phase with lots of speed endurance?

3. How do you stop normal muscle spasm(even if they are not painful)?

4. should the power clean be a stable lifting exercise to do if your profficient in it? I have seen of its use correlating well for acceleration.

5. Charlie francis has periodizations called GPP,SPP1, and SPP2 if your planning is similar can you explain what SPP1 and 2 might be. Does SPP 2 have more emphasis on maintaining speeds made during the winter time and has much more focus on speed endurance and max velocity? For those that dont do similar things how would you do something similar for short sprinters?

I would like to hear each person's opinion on the role of arm mechanics during sprinting and the reasoning behind their views. More specifically, should a sprinter be "active" in the arm swings or "reactive" and allow the counter-movement to occur naturally?
