Looks like your takeoff angles are rather high.  Have you tried focusing on "out" rather than "up"?

Lewis almost certainly has his hands on a 3rd consecutive gold medal…Powell good sprinting speed….oh that is huge!

I typically like to stress pushing up on these short jumps (especially for training purposes) because athletes tend to overdo the horizontal aspect of them but in this case I agree with Mort…you're takeoff angles are too high.

Nick's (jumperuk) is probably too humble to say it but he just jumped 16.41 for double-double.

Better "swing" mechanics and the same power levels will generate ~1m better performance.

heres something interestingfor you…i was working with a triple jumper today…hes 26, been triple jumping for like 6 years…(not all that talented but works very hard) his TJ pr is 14.60m and he is technically very good…

and today he did 16.40m for the double double in sneakers…

what can explain this?

Sounds like he can't put together what he did in practice into competition.  Could be a number of factors like maintaining speed thru the phases… Is he a slow athlete?  Is this what you mean by not talented, but works hard?  the double double might be considered a great indicator, but that's just what it is…an indicator.  Not the real deal.

yes, speed is definitily his problem, he is very strong in the weight room…not very reactive also…but im positive he is fast enough to at least jump 15.50m. I mean, you dont have to be that fast to jump 16m do you?

In terms of his speed, how fast are we talking?

Even though he isn't fast, his issue might be controlling that speed into the board and though his phases.  Does he lean excessively to one side or the other?  does he tend to rotate forward a little during his phases?  is he in a hurry get his feet back to the ground?  Over-rotating during the jump phase?

Just a few things i have seen with jumpers that have similar problems that your guy seems to.

honestly, his technique is very good…ill try to get a video…but it really is good…he understands the event very well…this may be his breakout year…but we dont really know why he cant jump further…

but to put some things into prespective, last year he did one long jump meet, and jumped 5.99m…

no joke…but he has test number in many things that would suggest hes much better…i just dont know..

I'd be wary of some of these tests such as the RRLL test and that 3x3x300 for 400m runners.  A lot of people think they'll do awesome based on these tests but they rarely ever do
