so as i train in the cold weather, i noticed i gained weight, i'm now at 17% bodyfat. Is this normal, my diet is the same as when i lowered my body fat to 15%, could it be from training outside my body is storing fat naturally?

You didn't gain 2% bodyfat because of cold weather (nearly 4lbs of fat for you), if you gained 2% at all.

yes but this is over span of weeks training in the cold. I'm wondering if there is an effect, since my diet is the same, my training and tempo is the same yet i gain fat. I'm curious, not worried about this.

It obviously is not the same senri because 4lbs of fat would require on the order of a 14,000 calorie surplus if everything went straight to fat. Likely a 30,000+ calorie surplus would be needed since most of the excess would probably go towards glycogen, muscle to some extent, and a good amount with just be excreted.

What are your methods of testing your BF? I have asked this before because they must be questioned if you gain and lose so much bodyfat so regularly, while supposedly eating the same.

For what it's worth, people tend to eat more food when exposed to cold temperatures.

In cold weather people also tend to look bloated and less vascular than during the warm weather months. This can give the impression of having put on BF. When average temperatures are high, blood volume increases as a means of enhancing thermoregulation and one of the side affects of this is that people look leaner (even though they may not be).

its easier for me to be leaner in the summer i noticed, i'm more active ofcourse so that may be it. I had one thing to add, a good friend of mine has same height as me and weight, is sort of a mesomorph can gain weight easy and lose it. He bulked abit during the winter and his midsection as everything else still has definition still see the abs, he just looked bloated. So i bet him that i have lower bodyfat then he does, i proceed to show him my belly and he was like "whoa" he guessed 23-25%. He went first on the machine, i told him if he was well hydrated and he said yes (machine works well when your hydrated). He got 19% bodyfat, i didnt think it was that high. I assumed in my mind he might have visceral fat. I go on the machine and get 16.7% bodyfat, and he was very surprised. We pondered on the subcataneous and visceral fat issue, but to us is unkown thing to know about as we dont swelve to much on these things.

Tell me this isn't a Tanita scale?

How does this machine measure bodyfat?

That's gotta be a Tanita scale.

Senri- you should know that that thing is only slightly more useful than a wet turd.

must be similar, where you step on it, however its bigger and doesnt look like a tanita scale, you have to be barefoot to read it and all this stuff.

Ok then that's the one that's as useful as a polished turd.

yeah its tough getting it down, however it does not seem to impact my performance from improving. It would be great to have 10-12%
