If you don't mind, what are your sprint PRs and how tall and heavy are you, 17% percent seems so high for a sprinter, I mean I'm not even that good, or at least that what my coach reinforces daily to me and I am no more than 5 or 6 %. I yell at the younger decat guys when is they can't maintain a decent 6 pack.

once again bf % is overrated.
Probably so but being a lardass is a sure fire way to slow. Even Leroy Burrell was lean at one point.
my pb is 11.75fat. i'm 22 years of age 5'8.5 170lbs at the moment, lowest i gotten down to was 162lbs. Lasted about 3 days, cause i was feeling lethargic and weak, then i ate some carbs and my performance went up, then BOOM 166lbs in another 3 days after that. If i focus to much on fatloss i lose focus of training, i dont bother at the moment, teh advice i got is good, and i'm thankful, i need the knowledge so i can gain insight in the future. Right now priority is training to get fast, which is whats happening.

How do army guys not have a six pack? Is that even possible?
I trained at about 5-6 range would eat incredibly healthy for about the last 6 weeks and competed at less than 2% for my big meets. Made a big difference in my jumping events and running events.

When I was in high school, one year I lost BF but not really any weight and I got a lot faster and jumped a lot farther…
Training is more than just on the track, its about what you eat, when you sleep, mental, etc. You have to maintain the nutrition aspect of your training or youll never be as good as you can.

Dude listen. Quit the carb counting bodybuilding crap. Eat your carbs. If you don't you will not have the energy to train. Don't eat too much food and TRAIN truly like a sprinter and you will not be fat. If you are very fat, if that is what 17% looks like, then you won't run as fast as you could. As Barto, who knows what he is talking about said, you WON'T be a very good sprinter with back fat and a belly period. You can't name one that is/has been. Find one even at a the collegiate level who has a belly and backfat.
If you are gaining fat just because it is "cold" then you aren't training right/hard enough.

I dont think you can get below 3…
I had my bf tested yesterday with hydrostatic weighing - 2.6%. There is a plus or minus 3% error but I had it tested when I got here and it was 2.8%.
As long as it is the same test under the same conditions, it doesn't really matter. It gives you a baseline and then see comparitive results. The guy who runs it has been doing it for a number of years and works with every team on campus. He is very consistent.

Fair enough on the aspect of consistency (though there are differing bone densities between individuals, which I doubt is taken into account), but there is minimal degree of accuracy in such tests. You need more than that amount just in visceral fat to live, let alone have hormonal function that has any degree of normalcy.

i eat carbs, i know that ofcourse if i cut it my performance will go down, i just gain weight very easily,i train 5 days a week, 3 hi intense days, 2 days of tempo. I feel very fast actually, the fat comes down easier during spring, summer time.
