I was wondering what people have done in order to help your numbers at the high school level?  I have seen people do display cases, make websites, send letters and go talk to athletes.  Any other good ways to get these kids to come out for track instead of playing cracketball for an AAU team or whatever other things they want to specialize in?  Just wanting to hear some ideas.  Take care.

have current athletes, particularly seniors and captains, call the younger athletes and tell them that “we want them”.  Worked for us, we had the most in the state last year (125).  And if they arent sure, keep calling, thats how we got a good kid from going to the dark side of lacrosse.

Keep in good touch with the football and basketball coaches… if you can get them to “recommend” doing track, it’ll help you a lot (you’ll probably land a good portion of the squad in fact). Not all coaches are like this, but you may be able to convince some.
