This is a random thought. Why does the current crop of 100m male sprinters act like hypogonadal librarian assistants? I would think that if you are one of the most powerful athletes in the world (and possibly doped out of your mind) that you would have some bark and assertiveness when in the limelight. The last spark of life I remember was indoor 60m where Mo and Crawford got into an argument when Shawn started boasting about his top speed.
Tyson looks like an abused puppy in press conferences.
Asafa talks about how he doesn’t really care much about the WR and seems like he’s going to go narcoleptic at any moment.
Bolt doesn’t even know if he will run the 100m.
When will a personality like Mo or Andrew Howe or Adam Nelson reappear in the sprint ranks? I’m not complaining, I just find it interesting. Do they take drugs that make them appear that they’re not on drugs in front of the media ?
Don’t remember where I saw it but I recently saw a video interview where Powell said he wasn’t afraid of Bolt, that he’d run a 9.6x and any time he steps on the track that he could set a WR. While not fire extinguisher to the shoes bravado, it’s better than Gay and Bolt.
I think part of it might be that they can’t talk shite about each other all the time AND dodge each other like they do.

If by acting stupid, you mean exhibiting greatness, then I would want to see it because it is entertaining and the key to success.
Telling someone to “FUCK OFF” and talking nonsense isnt exhibiting greatness. Tyson, Powell, and Bolt is during it the right way and the young athlete can actually learn something from them.
I don’t know if this had anything to do with this current wave of good behavior but remember that there was quite a bit of backlash (in the general sports media) against short sprint braggadocio due to their ridiculous posing after relays, false start antics, running with picks or caps in their hair, etc.
Maybe the agents are just telling them to play it cool. Or maybe it’s just a different era.

I think we are dealing with three young talented classy athletes, not all of my people act crazy like mike tyson.
Well, Mike Tyson is another story altogether. I have no doubt the current crop of sprinters have a different demeanor than those of the late 90s and early 00s. X seems to be the most openly confident and even he is reserved by those standards. I think we need more guys like X to spice up the sport. Not WWE or anything, but a little display of emotion and character would be great.
I was more talking about the actions of Williams, Drummond, Greene, etc. at the past couple world champs and domestic meets. I actually don’t mind some of the things they got lambasted for….I was just pointing out that they DID get beat up in the general public media and I’m sure USATF probably said something to agents.

Guess im old school because i like tyson, powell, and bolt style very confident, very talented, laid back but deadly on the track. Athletes like these are the ones that scare me not the ones who do all the talking, sticking there tongues out etc.
Yeah. I think there’s a fine line between being a character and being classless. Some of the stuff I’m indifferent about but I think it brings more people to the sport.
I’d be scared of the guy that “stuck his tongue out” and had the 60m/100m WRs, Olympic gold, World double gold, most sub 10s, etc. more than any of those 3…

When you say people, what kind of people are you talking about? i know people who dont watch the nba because of the young guys tats and braids etc.

Your right, my bro use to do all that shit and it was always the lil skinny guys who got buggy and screwed up there race.
