Mike:

Has HPC/USATF Dev completed the sprint data analysis from the Oly trials?  If so, will you present the results here or will it be posted on another website?

Sorry for the delay and thanks to Price for keeping on me about it. Here’s the splits for what I can find. I know I have the rest somewhere (other than the men’s 200) but I can’t seem to find right now.

in the final many of the competitors splits pick up and slow , especially Patton and Padgett, is their a reason why this occurs or is it just possible faulty timing.

Also i noticed from the splits in semifinal 1 Gay and Williams get a split of .80 with only +2.2 m/s

these times just seem faulty , Williams splits from 40m to 90m(every 10m) are .92,.80,.91,.85,.92,.87

Yeah….you get spurious results some times and Eugene was UNBELIEVABLY difficult for splits because the organizing committee would not permit us to put down our usual pieces of tape on the track at 10m intervals. We (HPC & USATF Sprint Development crew) were forced to put down pieces of tape that were about 2 square inches when we would normally put down 2 inch x 8 inch strips. This makes it easier to make perspective errors. This type of thing happens every year but you’d be generating false data if you tried to smooth it. Having said all that, I’m pretty sure the big boy’s splits are more accurate as it’s human nature to spend more time analyzing the ones you’re most interested in.
