I'm going crazy here, I'm a highschool athlete and i can't decide between the Maxcats and the Celars :?: Last year I ran in the JSCs and did well. This year I'm stronger…and will be faster. My main event will be the 400m and i run 200m for the team, mostly because we don't have anyone else…Which spikes would be best for me?! I'm 5'10" 160lbs.  I have a horrible start…haha! That could be because of my squat though, its probably only about 250lbs…if i'm lucky.

I've been told the Maxcats…but i still can't decide! And i'm somewhat skeptical of the new celars. No laces…and an internal bootie?! :?:

Well would you suggest the celars or the maxcats for me? I might end up running some 800s too. I still have my JSCs though, i could use those for my 800s.

Use the JSC's for the 800m and the Celars for 200/400.  The Celars were designed for curve running and they will give you more power in your stride during your sprint events (by the sturdier plate).  I'm doing the same myself this year.

so you think it would be best to get the celars? The turns are already my strongest part of the race. Even with the JSC plate.

But if you're talking about having an increased power in your stride, you'll want a sturdier plate rather than one that gives reducing the amount of power you have in each step.  I do say the Celars are a better 200/400 spike, not just because they were actually made for 200/400 runners, but because of a little intuition.

I'm unsure of the look of the celars. They seem like they'd be uncomfortable. I'll take your suggestions into consideration though. Thanks

400Stud, have you run in the new Celars?

I'll be getting them within the next two weeks so I'll let you know how it goes.

I don't know which post you're referring to, but yes the Celar 2 plate is what I'm talking about and yes it is sturdier than the JSC's.  Obviously the Superfly's have one of the sturdiest plates, but the Celar plate is still fairly sturdy (much more so than the flat-foot design of the JSC/Maxcats) and is made for long sprints.  Go to Eastbay and look at the Specs on the shoe in their special T&F section.

Question- Do the Celar Plus fit like the JSC? I got a pair of JSC but they were too long and pinched the outside of my foot. I run 200/400/800 events and am really struggling to find a spike thats got what i need.  I have a pair of Rival S+ and they fit perfect in 12.5 but are a little worn down. Thanks-
