Darin Padua posted this picture of RG3 and I was actually saddened as this is an athlete who is truly gifted. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that RG3 has some impairments and it makes sense that it’s likely that glutes firing is not working to solve this problem. Firing glutes better is not going to fix the collapse of his knees. Cueing, be it internal or external is not fast enough o

it started with athletes going to s & c coaches who did “pt exercises” because wow it was different…ie Mike Boyle, Charles Poloquin, JCS, and Mark Vestegen to name a few.  Now there is more “quasi pt” and no s & c!  What do you propose amigo?

The first step is talking about problems that clearly exist. It took a lot of guts for Darin to show a major athlete such as RG3. I do think an overlap is ok to to have between medical and performance, but the wrong fusion usually means that the compromise in the quality of medical evaluation for more quasi strength and conditioning will exist.

Guts, and a keen eye.
You are correct, a poignant dialogue has to take place between the elite of the s & c field and the therapeutic field for appropriate resolution of boundaries.  Set up the table, snacks and beverages a must and I’m sure some outstanding conversations and points will be hammered out!

Carl,

Wonder you had any thoughts on Miss St basketball?  I was watching the game and they talked about how there were 3 ACL injuries in one season and another player with a torn patella. Tried to look up some information on the S&C and it seemed borderline HIT training from the youtube video.
