Jeremy Wariner tried it.  I’ll let you decide if it worked or not.

Baylor Training is called Tempo Training for 400m runners everything based on a tempo broken down for 100m So for instance if your a 48 sec quarter guy your tempo would be around 12-13 sec for 100m depending on your workouts.  Yes it does work, ECU uses it and has had success with it. It can be used for other events also not just quarter mile

I hear this only works for guys with very good short speed, and not for people who may lack some speed?

The training works and its not just for short sprinters.  The important thing to keep in mind is how it relates to each runner slightly differently and how that may affect them.

Most of the people who run VERY fast using this program are those who already possess great short speed (MJ, Wariner, Merritt, etc.). Having said that, one can't deny that a 400m training program that is heavy on tempo-type work is extremely effective at producing 400m runners. It should be noted that none of the schools that use this program are known for their short sprinters.

Clyde Hart doesn't just do 1 workout.  He has several, mostly however he trains his guys for what he calls Tempo Endurance.

My coach has a similair workout plan, a bit different in a sense of longer distances and more sprint on those distances. So far its worked, but i like Clyde Harts workout plans more cus it works on your speed as well and im starting to lose my speed.

My athletes did a very slight variation of the Baylor training this year and had great success.
