Shouldn't long endurance be trained on one day rather than mixing it up between speed and long?
I asked my hurdle coach this same question and he says it doesn't matter. One of our workouts this week was over the 100 meter hurdles over 7 hurdles x3 5hx3, and 3hx3. Then after that 6x300 over the last 5 hurdles of the 300ih with 90 seconds recovery and hitting them between 48-49 seconds. i felt really stressed through the whole workout after doing the speed hurdle drills and overall just thought it was way too taxing. I hit all my training times which makes me think that it wasn't asking too much seeing that I hit my times. But I guess the main question is should those two workouts be mixed??? I'm a female hurdler….. if your wondering about the times….

It is ok to mix them just make sure you have adequate recovery time for speed and endurance between this workout and the next, i.e. a day or two of recovery. Each training session will incorporate all the different training types just in different proportions.

While I personally wouldn't mix the two under an ideal situation I think it can be done sucessfully if adequate rest is given. Another thing that I'd suggest is that when you do have to combine the two types of workout make sure you do the speed oriented part first so that fatigue from the endurance portion does not negatively affect the speed portion of the workout. I've actually found best results when the sessions stimuli is as focused as possible.

I agree with Mike on this one.

Another point to keep in mind is that the HH and IH races are very different in terms of the rhythm pattern required.  This makes it difficult for an athlete to train both patterns, let alone in the same day.  Under an ideal situation, I'd suggest splitting the HH and IH work into different days, preferably with the IH work earlier in the week as long as you can get enough recovery to do HH work later.

If you have to do both in the same day, then absolutly go with what mike said above, with doing the HH speed work first and the IH longer work second.
