I personally would want very few strength coaches designing my t&f or XC athletes strength program.  I would prefer to design it and have the strength coach help oversee it's implementation and offer suggestions to me on changes to the program and possibly changing a certain athletes training program focus.

Perhaps I should start another thread for this, but I'm curious as to how many college coaches have strength coaches write their lifting programs?

at my school our track coach and strength coach get together before practice starts for the upcoming yr and write out the weight program for the yr. its my first yr in college but this seems like the best approach. it ensures that what we do in the weight room matches what we do on the track.

Agreed.  I change my guys weight training so many times it is difficult to keep my sanity.  Everybody is different.  You can make a semi-specific yearly plan if you want but if I do that, it usually goes in the wastebasket after a couple months.

When your "strength coach" does their lifting seperately you are often a prisoner to them.
