x-man didn't look in very good shape while running the 4x400 all star team, is he still being coach by the shaver? Merritt seem to be in awesome shape.

I didn't see the race but I heard the same. I spoke to Dennis about 2 weeks ago and he was still coaching X. I can't imagine anything changed.

What's odd, is that X has a past history of running extremely fast with little training (see high school and first meets of indoor season following football at LSU).

he look a lil heavy, but he went out really fast and faded big time at the end. andrew rock was andrew rock consistent, wallace didn't have much in the tank. i think merritt could break the 400m record this year.

Heavier than usual or just heavy compared to those other guys? He always looks heavier than those other guys, especially Spearmon and Rock.

As for Merritt and the WR…were you speaking of the indoor record or the outdoor record? They are in two different leagues.

heavier then usual but again i could be wrong, he just didn't look as lean as usual. as for the WR I'm talking bout outdoors, i would say at least 2yrs he should have it. the anchor leg for Baylor was ahead of everyone and i was like there is no way merritt will catch this guy- he caught the guy and look back at him while doing so.

I saw Merritt run several times last year and I also thought he has what it takes to beat the current world record. In comparison to the other sprint records that's probably the softest of them. He's really overlooked because he's actually faster (I think) than Wariner was at the same age. The problem he's going to face is that Wariner could beat him to the world record and since Wariner is still pretty young himself could keep it for a while. Whatever the case I think the next 5 years will probably be groundbreaking for the event. There's more young talent in the event than at any other time in history. I wouldn't really be surprised if any one of 3 guys broke the record (X if he trained for it, Merritt, or Wariner).
