our hs athletes have participated in some gpp (2-10 weeks) and are about to enter some specific jump training. i am most concerned about our hj/tjer's. i would like to go MWF jumps and TR recovery (pool, bike, ex tempo, etc). however, we do not have enough coaches to do that. these jumpers are 100-400 people as well. here is the alternative plan…

M-TJ tech work and upper weights and abs
T-HJ approach work and a couple jumps (2-4), lower weights, MB throws
W-recovery
R-TJ and HJ (similar as M and T) and lower weights and MB throws and 2-4 Baylor 150's (50 easy, 50 medium, 50 hard)
F-recovery

my concern is going high intensity (low volume) two days in a row. is it too much too soon. thoughts?

Im confused why you dont just do MWF hard, and T, TH recovery? Why make it hard two days in a row when you dont have to?

this is how we do it:

monday - hj tech/speed/weights (snatch/squats)
tuesday - tj/lj tech...recovery
wednesday - over distance work (150's)/weights (hang cleans/bench)
thursday - lj/tj tech...recovery
friday - hj tech/speed ladders/weights (front squats/db jerks)

Is there few enough PV/HJ/TJ'rs that he could critique simultaneously (assuming the runways are next to each other)?

these jumpers are 100-400 people as well.

geez, i wouldn't want to run 100-400 on that training schedule...absolutely no running so to speak.

hs athletes don't need to overdo technique training (ie, as you guys are by doing 3 days a week on 5 training days). They'd be better off doing one day a week technique and the reaminder of the week to get fast, fit and strong (particularly if they are also sprinting in comp). I mean you can't try to follow a professionals training plan when you only have 5 days a week and athletes who are in mixed and contrasting disciplines. Sometimes go more basic rather then more complex. At that age, as long as they are fast and strong they will do well enough in any event.

Have a layout more like:

M - Jumps technique, weights, medball work, abs.
T - Ex tempo, abs.
W - (60,80)x4 [4mins btw reps/8mins btw sets], plyo's, abs, weights.
T - Bodyweight circuit, abs.
F - A few runway practices (getting steps), (150,450)x2 [8mins btwreps/20mins btw sets], abs, weights.

I dunno, just mix it up and concentrate on making good physical athletes rather then great technical experts. Thats my 2 cents
