In a word: NO.

Search for posts by thefattys and Bear (both usernames used by Barry Ross).

CFKA is known for his witty and intellectual jokes….most of which fly over the heads of mere mortals. I'm assuming this one was in reference to your comment being bait and Barry Ross's nickname being 'the bear'...then again, I am only a mere mortal.

I should clarify that my 'no' was more in reference to Barry's insistence on (IMO) misinterpreting Weyand's data to suggest that sprinting mechanics are not important. I was not attempting to say that mass-specific force is not the most important factor, just that I strongly disagree with how Barry interprets it. For instance, ignoring (despite his insistence that he doesn't) the vector of the force application is completely wrong. Barry seems to be almost completely centered around increasing strength-to-body weight ratios in a very area specific area (deadlifts). I think that this is only one component of sprinting performance. If increasing strength-to-bodyweight ratio in one lift, the deadlift (Barry's primary indicator and training tool for training MSF), was all it took to be fast, elite powerlifters in the light weight classes with the best deadlifts would also be the fastest people in the world. Most recognize they aren't even the fastest athletes in strength sports (elite OLs are likely much faster).
