Nothing as of right now, haha! This season was so filled with injuries that conference was the first time I was able to run at anything close to all out. This weekend, provided the weather is good, I should qualify for the 100 at least and our relay has a small chance too.
You like waiting till the last moment, don’t you 21.4
The 100 pisses me off, they wouldn’t switch the direction and it would have been a legal tail wind. Instead I went 10.81 into a -1.3.
The 200 was really weird. It was at 8:45pm and there were only 4 people in our heat. I was all the way out in lane 8, not even seeded into the fast heat because of all the bullshit times and honestly felt tired as shit. But hey, I’ll take a 21.47, especially cause I won it from the 2nd heat.
Also, the only thing worse than running a 200 at 8:45 is a 4x4 at 10:15. We had a seasons best at 3:17 though, so it must not have hurt all that much.
Thanks man. The wind was a +0.4 I believe. Yeah, Amaan is crazy fast. I raced him in finals for the 55 and got smoked by him and Bynum...and everyone else. But I digress, the 200 is more suited to how I run
Well, I think everything that could have gone wrong for today aside from me tearing a muscle happened. At the dinner/social last night everything was served buffet style with very little seating so I was standing for a few hours. Then I got stuffy and dizzy and ended up getting a fever that broke this morning. Then came the horribly discolored snot that tells me that I have a sinus infection. Warm ups sucked and I was tight and achy, and getting into the blocks my hamstring spasmed and freaked me out. I still ran a 21.57, but my curve was ridiculously horrible because I was freaked out by that spasm.
Seriously, just bring on next year. I’m done with this one, lol.,

I’ll probably end up running a relay or two over the summer or trying events I don’t usually get to during the year like Jav. I kinda want to try hurdling. I spent a few months learning in 05 and do it every once in awhile just messing around, but I may actually give it a shot over the summer.

How long would you guys advise taking off before starting off season work? I had a pretty weird outdoor season, with most of my workouts coming in the form of lifting or longer and slower stuff because of the hamstring injuries. I think I had maybe 6 speed days and two meets where I ran hard at them. I feel antsy because it feels like I haven’t done anything.

bro if u were my athlete i would tell you 4 weeks, the first 2weeks get away dont even look at a track or weight then come back 2 weeks and easy back into some general stuff like tempo 3x with weight circuits 3x, then after you can begin training.
Yeah, I was planning on starting in July and doing a few general strength and really light tempo days the few weeks leading up to it, but I wasn’t sure if that would be enough time off. Last year I didn’t start training hard until late September because of my injury from the previous season taking months to heal, so I really didn’t have any experience of how soon was too soon.

you have a unique situation bc you normally do most of ur speed in the summer and early fall, if you were coaching urself i would say to take it easy during the summer and get things going late aug hard.

I have my collegiate athletes do 2-3 weeks of whatever they want. I just ask that they stay active and do something they want to do that IS NOT track related. After that, I give out workouts that are loosely structured and allow for a little autonomy. This lasts for about 6-8 weeks and then we start up with official practice.
For my post-collegiate athletes, I have them take 1 week of unstructured, on-their-own training following the indoor season, and 3-4 weeks following the outdoor season.

Things are going well. I’ve just been doing general strength work, working on some areas that I think I have problems with like upperbody, but I feel great and don’t feel my hammy injury anymore, thankfully.
