Hahahaha. I think it must be from all the milk and cheese. That, and shoveling snow is great on the hammys.

Most of the people you hear in the video are yelling for lanes 1 and 3, cause conference was at their home. They hyped up the race so much, announcing every little thing they could about us as we lined up. It was great.

I have no idea what the hell happened today. I’ve been sick all week with a deep, phlegmy cough. I was running the 55 and the 4x400. With a bad cold earlier this week and a lingering cough, which one would you think would suffer?

I ran the slowest 55’s of the year for me. 6.48 and 6.47.

The 4x4? Lead off leg split 48.9 on the line. Second time in 6 days I’ve gone under 49 on the lead off leg.
Last week I took the 200 in mid 23’s and came back strong. Tonight I hit the 200 in around 22.8 and died at the end.
I just need to get myself feeling explosive again.

We were trying to qualify the 4x4, so I ran the 55 as a warmup/shake out.

I’m gonna be honest, I wasn’t excited or nervous or anything at the line for the 55. I was actually kinda apathetic, so I’m sure my times were just representative of the fact that I knew I was just using it as a warm up.

Our 4x4 only went 3:22 though. Two of our kids just had really off days days, plus we were the only fast 4x4 running, so we were running against time and nothing else.

have you always run 4x4 and what kind of training do you do to be able to run the 55 and 4x4?

I ran the 4x4 at conference because I went 21.9 in the open 200. The thing is that I don’t train for the 400. At all. I hate all things having to do with the training for the 400. I have two speed days a week, two low int recovery days, a premeet (blocks and medball throws) and then comp.

It is a tempo based school. The coach and I sat down before the season and worked out a speed program for me though.

And ended up putting a bit more speed work in for the other guys too in the process.

I have a messed up schedule because of classes and work. I am on my own on mondays, in the morning with the coach on tues, thur, and fri, and with the team on wed.

The speed work is pretty basic. 250-350m worth of 30’s or 40’s, from a stop or flying depending on the time of the year, or sprint float sprints. tues and thurs are speed days, mon and wed are light or med int depending on if there is a meet I’m going to for the weekend, and friday is premeet, which is just blocks and a few accels.

kool, i just dont understand why coaches let there athletes run in last chance meets when they are already going to ncaa’s, bc if the athlete get injured theres not enough time to bounce back.

Yeah, I can see that concern. I’ve already been to nattys and got my all-american though. These guys have never gone so I figured I would give them the best shot I could.
