They hyped up the race so much, announcing every little thing they could about us as we lined up. It was great.

Track needs more meets like this. It’s amazing how much of a difference this can make to both the competitors and the attendees. This is one of the reasons why every meet at the Armory in NYC has such a big meet feel to it…because they actually have a great guy hired to do this at every single meet.

I love track but it is the most boring sport ever for the lay spectator.  The stuff I remember is things like when Mo Greene won that one 100m and he took off his shoes and the dude blasted them with a fire extinguisher.  Or when that dude threw shot in a mexican wrestling mask and not even the tv people knew who it was or when they played Rammstein at maximum volume during some of the indoor shot events.

I guess this is why I get so mad when officials reprimand my people for listening to mp3 players… that might be a good idea at the Epilepsy Invitational but normally it’s like they are trying to create the most boring environment possible at some of these meets.

They need to make it more like WWF.  Maybe it is and they faked FloJo’s death and Tsekos is preparing her for Beijing.  The IAAF is always one step ahead of me.

Lewis almost certainly has his hands on a 3rd consecutive gold medal…Powell good sprinting speed….oh that is huge!

We finished up well but not without bumps. Conference was sub-par on the men’s side. Not a single event winner in the group. In fact, we’ve scored more points in the 200m alone the past 2 years than we did at the entire meet. We had several PRs in the 60m rounds but mental errors cost us big in the 200m and 400m. The women ran very well though at conference and we won 4 of the 5 events I coach despite a group of only 4 females. The following Monday I gave the women off and ran the men in to the ground. We then had a meet that Friday and the men ran average (to be expected from Monday’s session) and the women ran great again, breaking a 20 year old school record in the 4x4. The next week at the IC4A championships (kinda like a super-conference meet for all you non-North Easterners), I rested both men and women and this time it was the women’s turn to stink it up. The men ran great though. A couple PRs in the 500m, a PR / school record in the heptathlon, and a men’s 4x4 school record. I’m still trying to figure out how the two groups were so different. I’m 95% sure it wasn’t a physical thing since both groups were running very fast in practice the entire time.

Whelp, nattys has come and gone and once again I have an 8th place trophy. This time though I’m not as pissed as last year. I went 6.37 in prelims and 6.41 in finals. It was a fast year, first and second were 6.25 and 6.26.

Overall I am happy with it. Thankfully the gifts were sleeping bags and winter hats, because outdoor season in Wisconsin in April is COLD.

Man oh man. First meet of outdoor and its a great day for Wi. Mid 50’s and breezy. Then the breezes turned into gusts and made everything illegal. I was supposed to run the 100,200 and 4x1 and ended up barely running the prelims of the 100 because my hammy wouldn’t loosen up.

I felt pretty good through 40m and then it started getting tight, and then with about 10-15m left it locked up and i kind of triple jumped and then fell across the line.

The time is pretty comical because if you combine it with the wind and jumping and falling, there is no way in hell I can figure out what I would have ran otherwise.

Did I mention it was gusty?

10.72 with a 6.0m/s wind.

Now I get to rehab and wait a few weeks until I can run again and figure out just where the heck I really am training wise!

btw- its late and I’m going to bed, so if someone wants to do the work for me and point me to where the good posts are on hamstring rehab and such, it would be very appreciated. smile

Thanks for the info guys. The hammy is sore but not bruised. I’m following the protocol listed from that link and I’ll let you guys know how it goes.
