Should an athlete wait to rise until over their plant foot on the LJ takeoff?  Or should the athlete be rising already as the foot plants on the board If the athlete does indeed wait to rise until after the plant leg hits the board, I would assume the plant leg needs to be slightly bent?  Thanks for your time.

Premature rising or quick-jumping is something that you want to avoid. The rise should be after the take-off fit is on the board. Yes, the take-off leg does yield some at the plant.
This helps to load the leg as well.
