I was wondering if you cue your athletes to either use their arms as if still running when coming off the board, or to punch with almost a straight arm off the board, if you were going to use a single arm style takeoff in triple?  Thanks for your time.

I don’t cue the athletes, I just watch them and let them do what comes natural.  Then fine tune the movements with a progression from slow to full speed.

I’m not a coach, just a junior in college that started doing triple jump my freshman year of college, and I’m also a double-arm jumper; but I think the main thing for me is to make sure that I go OUT, not up off of the board.  I started PRing pretty consistently when my coach starting cueing me this way

If you are a single arm jumper, just run off the board using an arm swing similar to sprinting. I don’t understand what you mean by punching your arm forward. That would cause serious deceleration and balance issues.
