I’m a former 50 second quarter miler/high 38s 300IH that after attempting walking on to my college’s Div I team (which I made and was offered a half scholarship the day I went in to quit...side story there) that has “ballooned” up from the 165 i was in college to a current 208 as of my weigh in Tuesday fully clothed.
First off this is an inactive or corpulent 208 as I stand 5’10” and most hardly notice when my weight does fluctuate until I start to show that I’m pregnant (most all my weight goes to my gut). A year ago this month actually I got myself down to 178 as part of a bet with 2 friends who had weddings. I was in worse shape then as I was coming off weightlifting injuries (shoulder, knee) that kept me from being active. I accomplished that with regular workouts, incline walking on a treadmill, and nailing my diet down to almost the macronutrient level with timed meals (I’m familiar with John Beradi). Towards the end of this weight loss I was able to walk 5 minutes and follow it with a minute at 12mph (based on the treadmill) and keep this up for half an hour. Unfortunately I’ve regressed to the point I can’t even run a half mile without stopping. I’m unsure if it’s because of pace or a lack of aerobic capacity.
My initial goal is weight loss (i’ve read a few posts on the board and I know that will be the first goal many will say) followed by the ability to run a 400 in under 60 seconds. Once I can do that I think I’ll qualify for most workouts many would generally post.
My end goal is increased speed as much as possible as it will help in my sport endeavors which include track, volleyball, tennis, and adventure racing (i.e. Urban Dare and Urbanathlon).
Stats:
I turn 30 in June
Weight: 208
height: 5’10”
ATG squat: somewhere between 265 and 285 for 5 reps...I don’t have my log in front of me
Bench: 195x5
Deadlift: 335?x5...again without my log in front of me it’s hard to tell.
I’m currently following a WS4SB weightlifting template.
Thanks for the help.
