Well, I’ll introduce myself first. Hi, my name is Jhay (silent H), basically Jay. I’m 14 years old, a High School Freshman. I signed up for Track and Field, well Track, because I like running. I’m a sprinter, and I’ve come here for some help.
So far I haven’t been doing as well as I thought I would in practice, even though we’ve only practiced for about 5 days now.
I get really tired when I’m sprinting. I’ll start off good of course, but in the middle of my sprint, I tire out and slow down. I think my main problem is my breathing, but I don’t know if that’s my only problem. I also think my breathing is a reason I tire out quick.
Anyone have any tips on breathing properly during sprinting? Also, any good breathing exercises to improve my breathing? Or anything else that can help with my running? Proper running form? How to run? My goal is to become the best sprinter I can be, maybe one of the bests on my team. I want to be able to out-run most of the upperclassmen on my team haha. So I’m going to work really hard. Any help would be much appreciated. smile

I like that you want to be the best.  The best tip I can give you on anything track related is to listen to your coach and do everything he/she asks to the best of your ability.  You will see many athletes taking shortcuts in everything from the warmup, to the workout to the cooldown.  If there was a shortcut to success many of the people on this forum would have shared it already and we wouldnt be here talking about how to improve.  Dont talk the talk just get out there and bust your butt.  Let everyone else do your talking for you.
