I know that you should run on the ball of your foot…but why? Im not saying I dont agree(because I do) but really whats the exact reason…I thought I read the reason on here before, but I can’t find the thread…..I think it has to do with the ball of the foot being the only part that can either apply or absorb force while sprinting efficiently…thanks…..

You get alot of push of the ground from the stretch reflex that occurs in your calves, making it so that your calves forcefully contract along with your achilles tendon acting as a spring, which makes you shoot off the ground quicker. Planting your heel on the ground would totally ruin the momentum required for this to happen, as well as it means that you’ve also probably planted your foot too far in front of you, which again makes you apply force away from your center of gravity.
And that’s not something that makes for good sprinting. smile

A sprinter lives and dies with his ego, and with his instincts.

Every morning in Africa a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up and it knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter if you're a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up, youd better be running.
