Seems like lately there has been quite a few questions about hills so a FAQ filled with as much as possible might be a good idea

Hills?

Did you know that two researchers, Paradis and Cooke (2006), experimented with hill sprints using 35 subjects and found that neither uphill nor downhill sprints were better than horizontal sprints alone at improving sprint performance? However, when uphill and downhill sprints were combined as a continuous sprint for training purposes, it resulted in a significant improvment to sprint performance.
P.S. they used slopes of 3 degrees.

interesting to know- but i still think there should be a FAQ because its not just sprinters that do hills.

This has me very curious now- if this is true then why to top coaches still do uphill and downhill individual sprint training sessions, ill look into this.. do u have a link or something? im not saying i dont beleive you i would just like to read this for myself aswel

The article was published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research 2006. A search of “Paradis Cooke 2006” should get you access to the abstract at least. What event do you train for?
