i don’t have access to a track during part of the year, but i feel like my top speed is the weakest component of my race. what tare some exercises that will help improve it without actually running at top speed (plyos, weights, etc)?

i guess, developing reactability (sp) ie, jump squats, plyos, bounding at speed etc...if you have a super fast treatmill, you could do sprints on that…

Vertical plyos… lots. Look up some stuff on Zhanna Block’s training.

Whoops. Maybe I should read the posts more thoroughly before posting. I agree with Davan. I try to emphasize elastic/dynamic exercises with a vertical pushing component. Things like stadium stairs where the emphasis is on an upright posture and vertical pushing emphasis, jumps for height (hurdle hops, tuck jumps, depth drops, etc) with elastic ground contacts work well.
