I competed in an open meet this weekend in the triple jump. I have been left, left, right jumper my whole career (4 years). My first two jumps were scratches and I got one measured at 42 feet (my pr was 47’), the next two jumps I just ran through because my old injury hurts when I jump anyway (left hip extensor). So on my last jump (6th attempt) I decided to switch legs, and figured I could at least get a 45 out of it. I went 48’ 10” on my last jump (this is the first time I’ve ever jumped Right Right Left)! My only mental que before I jumped was to bound right right left and go for distance. My left hip extensor has hurt all year on every jump (furthest this year was 45 on this left left right). Last year I was injured the whole year and got no marks, and same with the year before that. Has anyone else tried switching legs to see what happens? Has anyone experienced a freak outcome like this after two years of injury? I’ve been trying to understand why and if I should stick with right right left or go left left right? Since it was my first time jumping right right left I could probably go further?
