Why do you guys have these “waves”? It’s something only seen in experienced jumpers? What does it take to jump 7.50 any given day for an 8 m jumper?

Nick, come on now man.  Look at what you did the previous day.  I mean, really look at it as a sports scientist and coach.  You had a day of two seperate, medium load, very high intensity activities, both sessions you said yourself nearly at PR levels.  Especially look at the complex lift you did.  Put those two sessions together and as someone already said, you’ve got a VERY HIGH volume AND intensity day.

....

Do you really expect your CNS to be wired well for a technical jumps session, regardless of the intensity?  I probaby would have left any LJ specific technical aspects alone and stuck in a general strength - ext. tempo session.  Your CNS was FRIED.

Moral of the story…

Calm down.

I’ve seen you in action myself.  You’ve got ‘it’.  Take the bad with the good and keep the big picture in mind in your reactions and thoughts.  I’m rootin’ for ya man, as we all are here at elitetrack.  Keep on keepin’ on.

Gabe thanks for your words…

However,

Nothing has changed with my training really. I understand Monday was a high load day…but every monday is…and every tuesday is a jumps day…and if you look back through my log i always jump well on Tuesday after a hard Monday…

Something is just wrong since Europe…

And yes, i did expect to jump well today, becuase i always jump well from a short approach, except for the last 3 weeks…

I’m just honest on this thread with my feelings etc…i said during my first post that i’ll write the ups and the downs etc…

Is this was happening in May or Jan i wouldn’t really care and probably wouldnt talk much about it…but nearly July…i’ve decided not to go to my National Champs for the first time in like 4 years because i feel totally different than i have all year…i don’t think it’s worth going…

I’ll keep being honest…July 11th is the test…

Actually Gabe i was wrong…

During when my short approach jumps were at their best, i jumped on a Sunday with Saturday being a rest day…

I will have to lessen my expectations for my SA sessions with the set up as is…

AM)
Short warm up
dynamic flex
sprint drills
hurdle drills w/10m sprint off

3x30m build ups

3x75m FSF (35,25,15)

PM)
Depth jumps - 4x5
3x 4B+J w/6 run in strides
3x30m speed bounds

So, the roller coaster continues! I took an extra long and slow warm up today because i just haven’t felt ready before the workout started as of late…
As a result i felt very good throughout and ran some very encouraging times…from 35m-45m electronic i ran 0.97, 0.98, 0.98, slight headwind as well…really pleased…
Bounding session later…
Bounding was superb. I did a huge personal best of 22.00m for the max 4 bounds and jump. This puts the differential between standing 4b+j and max 4b+j nearly at 4m which was a goal at the start of the season. Good day.

Nice and easy, felt really good smooth. Looking forward to full approach work tomorrow. If i feel good i will jump a few just to give me a measure as to where i’m really at before my competition next week.

2x20m sprints

6x full approach run (jump and land last 3)

Cleans - 4x2 (last 1 @90%)
Clean pull - 2x2 @110%

Brilliant morning. I felt very good. First 2 jumps were around 7.50m with very rushed take offs. Last one i got right and jumped 7.70m which equals best practice jump of season. That particular jump felt very good, i slowed everything down in the air finally. Really pleased and i’m sure now there is a lot more left to come. I have some nice videos i think which i’ll put up in a bit! It’s GREAT to be able to jump again.

Ooops, ordered it wrong. 7.70m was the 2nd jump on the video.

Nice work.  I loved the “Whoo” on the 7.70 jump.  Hitch kick?

AM)
Short warm up
dynamic flex
sprint drills

2x20m
4x full approaches (alternate track/ runway)
1x90m

Clean - 3x2, 3x1 @92.5%

PM)
Squat complex - squat - 4x3 heavy + stiff leg jump - 4x8
Bench - 4x3
Hanging abs - 2x8
MB throws - OHB x8

Started off slow again but picked up nicely. I didn’t feel quite as good as i did last week but i still ran 0.97 and a huge PR in the fly 20m of 2.00 electronic (clocked from 20m-40m of the 90m sprint). I am really pleased with the fly 20m, 2.00 has been a goal of mine for a long time now, only 1 hundredth of a second off what Chris Tomlinson runs now.
I was supposed to do a little bounding after but my ankle was hurting so did cleanns. The rest of lifting i’ll do later.
