Hey I am currently looking for a coach that can coach me starting on november 1st and going all the way through late March. I would be willing to pay someone too or if you would be willing to do it for free. Just let me know what your rates are. Unfortanately i live in south dakota so i probally wouldnt be able to see you. It would work if you could just send me workouts through email or just give me my overall training program. I would mainly want a program geared towards the 200/400.

info:
ht.-5’7 wt.-133 sophomore…..I also have been running XC too this fall

PB’s:
100-11.69
200-24.1
400-53.6
Goals:
100-11.25
200-23.0
400-50.5….really working hard for this

Thanks

start a workout journal..youll get quicker responses/ critiques..even if you post in here im sure that members will gladly give you advice ...a few questions - are you independent of your school, if not does this mean that you would be going against your school coaches directions?, you got those PRs as a sophmore or as a freshman ..and are you currently a sophmore? and lastly are you doing any weight training or core work now?...Im no expert like some of the other members but i can try and give you advice and ill try to respond as quickly as i can ... if your able to post videos then that could help to get your form analyzed… i advise you to do some reading and educate your self since you started so early theres even more opportunity to improve…i think i might put up a training log of what im doing but its a lot to type up so i might procrastinate…

well my advice for now is that while your running xc ...remember your form dont get used to running tired with poor form that will be detrimental come spring….also i dont know what your xc workouts are like but if your just running straight miles ....you might want to suggest or go out on your own and do some intensive tempo or some type of workout closer to sprinting to keep you primed for sprinting…
some more questions ...what do you do in the weightroom? and are you trying to run xc competitively or is there more a focus on preparation for track? ...if its more about track and you could care less about xc then you should be focusing on your strength gains at this point but that type of lifting might affect your xc performance

Well why come to a message board like this, where people MAKE THEIR LIVING coaching, and ask for a free program or free coaching. I do don’t work for free DO YOU?

But he might not have bothered to ask.

I know I didn’t. He may be surprised.

I have never had luck “coaching” myself and I can figure out the why’s and the what’s of why Mike, Carl, Pfaff, Boo, etc. do what they do but can’t put it together for MYSELF. But I am nothing special so….

coaching online is a complex process .  It takes a lot of time individually and that time could be better put to our personal lives.

Right now I am willing to accept anything for pay, but I can’t sit here and tell this kid it will cost $300 a month for a training program and that’s about the least I could it for.  In person, I probably could go cheaper than $300 and sometimes I do it for free when I do it in person, but online takes a ton more time and it’s hard to get all the feedback I need to setup up a plan despite the number of initial questions I may ask.  Thus I spend a lot of my initial time (about 3 or 4 months worth) trying to get a feel for the athlete before the training plan becomes even remotely effective.

If I were you I would do the following.

1: Start a training log.

2: Subscribe to Mikes youtube account and keep his videos handy. Search the site and forum here and put together a warmup or two, using these videos so you know what some of the exercises mentioned are. Post your warmup for some helpful criticism (or just steal someone elses)

3: Do some tests on yourself. Get a friend to help you. Get various lifting maxes, bodyweight and composition if possible, and some field tests like flying 30’s, standing broadjump, etc. Use these to figure out your weaknesses.

4: From your weaknesses, begin to research the best ways to work them while keeping the bigger picture in place at the same time.

5: Put together a training plan for us to critique. We won’t do the work for you, but if you put together a plan and give us the reasoning behind it, we are more likely to help by offering advice on what would work better, etc.

6: Read a crapload. I’ve been here years and still stumble upon old posts or articles that I go “whoa!“ to.

That’s what I’d do. Put all of this in a journal for easy reference, etc, and goodluck. There is a plethora of information here and as long as you do your part and read and study it, you should be able to put together a decent offseason program that will help you reach your goals.
