I am being dogmatic. There are many better ways to progress someone to being able to squat than using a sissy squat which is only an enabler as mentioned in the earlier post. This was presented as an exercise for middle distance and distance runners, a group for which it is highly inappropriate. This is a picture of the Santa Barbara High School Girls Mile relay that was Sixth in the 1976 California State meet. Each of these girls could squat between 200 and 225 and not one of them was over 125 pounds in body weight. They never did sissy squats. Ignorance is bliss.
