There are some loosely substantiated rumors floating around on the internet that Marion Jones is pregnant with Obadele Thompson's child and the two are set to marry. For those who haven't followed track and field for the past 10 years (what are you doing on this site then?), Marion Jones is the second fastest woman of all-time. Oba Thompson isn't too shabby himself. He's run a 9.87s and 19.97s for the 100m & 200m, is a 2-time Olympian, a bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympics in the 100m, and is the distinguished owner of the title 'fastest human being under any conditions' for the windy 9.69 he ran in 1996.

Regardless of any controversy surrounding her, Marion Jones is obviously one talented woman, achieving the women's equivalent of Carl Lewis-like marks with relative ease in her hey-day. She already has a son from former 100m world record holder and drug cheat Tim Montgomery. This child alone should be a genetic wunderkind based on the genetics of its parents. Drugs or not, there's not too many kids out there who can say their dad AND THEIR MOM has run under 10.7 seconds.

As for the Oba and Marion rumors I don't really want to state any social commentary, speculate on their truth or even attempt to substantiate the rumors but it sure is fun thinking of the hypothetical scenarios of such a situation. That would mean Marion Jones would have two children by men who have run under 9.90s. If this were true it would create some interesting household competitions. I can just see it now, poor little Oba Jr running 9.4s for 100m by his 13th birthday and complaining that he's always in the shadow of his older brother. Much like Tim's Balco sponsored "Project World Record", this could be Marion's "Project Uber Child."
