I rarely come on ET asking for money. I want to keep the site as free as possible. In fact, the only time I can remember doing it before was for a Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief fund. At the time, I was living in Baton Rouge and I saw first hand the destruction and displacement that Katrina and the subsequent flooding caused. Thanks to a handful of ET members close to a thousand dollars was raised. That was a good cause. Now I’ve got another. This one is more of a feel-good support your sport cause.
Here’s the deal: I’m training a guy who’s started to garner a little bit of attention lately for various reasons. First of all, he’s fast. Very fast. He’s run 6.10 for 55m, 6.64 for 60m and 21.10 for 200m in the past 2 months. The 55m time is the fastest in the world this year (and is equivalent to about a 6.54 for 60m). He’s also big. Very big….6’4 and 210 pounds big. Did I mention that he’s also white. Yes, white.
Also notable is the fact that he doesn’t have a sponsor. He’s running for my company’s club team and has received some good Samaritan support from fans from across the country who’ve heard his story but he’s still struggling to balance paying the bills with attempting to pursue his Olympic aspirations.
He would never ask, but he needs financial assistance to pursue his dream. His story is very inspirational and he provides a stark contrast to the prima donnas of the NFL, MLB, and NBA. In fact, he’s actually featured on the front page of the NY Times sports section today. You can read the online version HERE. If after reading the story, you felt moved / touched / inspired / motivated I’d ask you help the guy out and click the button below. 100% of the donation (after ebay commission fees) will go to Dallas. HPC is not taking ANY administrative fees.
