I’ve been real busy with running the High Performance Center at the Olympic Trials in Eugene and have had very little time to actually see the meet. Today though, I was actually was lucky enough to be out on the infield doing a special video recording and 3D calibration for the men’s shot put when I witnessed what may very well be the greatest showing of American sprint depth only feet away during the Quarterfinals of the 100m. In the span of about 10 minutes- an American Record for Tyson Gay (9.77); an American High School National Record, American Junior Record, and equal World Junior Record for Demps (10.01), a Collegiate Record for Padgett (9.89). To recap that’s an AR, HSR, AJR, =WJR, CR….a veritable alphabet stew. 7 guys ran sub 10. Totally amazing. Especially considering that this was supposed to be an extremely weak year for American short sprinting. WOW. That’s all I can say. I’ve been able to witness quite a few amazing sprint performances in my day but this 10 minute span EASILY took the cake. Can’t wait to see the final.
