I thought that headline might catch your attention. You read it right…a new study indicates that if you eat more calcium, you’ll crap out more fat. Twice as much.
Why is this important? Well for one, it explains the seemingly paradoxical link that’s been observed between increased dairy consumption (typically foods that are higher in fat and even sugar) and lower body compositions. It also explains how the French can eat 7 sticks of butter and wash it down with a gallon of whole cream for breakfast and still have an obesity rate that is 1/3 what we see in the U.S. With adequate Calcium intake you can actually double the amount of fat in your crap. And since fat is the highest caloric density macronutrient, this link could be especially useful for any athlete trying to control weight or improve body composition. And while this finding needs more examination, this appears to be nothing to flush down the toilet.
