Well the year is wrapping up and it’s been a banner one for ET. Last year at this time the site had been down for weeks due to some server problems and it took the first couple months of the year just to get things back on track again after the long hiatus and a simultaneous site upgrade stomped down the daily use of the site to practically nothing. Fortunately, the site has bounced back nicely though with lots of help from all the great members of the site and the community is better than ever.
I remember when I first launched this site in 2002 the only interactive part of the site was the forum (I didn’t add a blog until 2005) and I had to post 30+ times a day just to keep the thing active. It often felt like I was talking to myself. I often was. Now the active membership is growing by the day and we’ve got a great mix of volume (of posts) and intensity (of discussion and debate). In fact, I often find myself really enjoying just reading the posts when I’m too busy to get involved.
In appreciation, I’m going to put a week’s worth of clinic and lecture videos on the site. They’ll just be 5-10 minute chunks but they should all be high quality stuff from some of the best coaches around. Luckily, due to the recent DVD series launch and some video I shot at the USATF National Podium Education Project, I’ve got a lot of good coaching vids on my hands and will put out one or more every day for the rest of the week. Although some of these talks are seemingly specific (to an event group or the speaker’s ‘normal’ event group) I’d recommend listening to all of them as I think you’ll find that none of them are really specific at all….just great talks on easily generalizable subjects using specific examples.
