Many coaches are going to a combination of assessments this year as they realize that any assessment has limits. For example the overhead squat provides information in the PCA, FMS and some of the testing methods shared in the manual by Dr. Grant and his team. The key is not that the overhead squat is good because three testing systems use it, the real truth is how much information do you get with a better set of eyes and thinking. During the season information will be increasing every day because the information is now comparing the original testing. Several teams are moving away from the FMS based on best practices with European and Australian models and using alternate tests, different scoring benchmarks, and better data acquisition. Sometimes you may not like what you see, but the data is vital to changing and evolving programs.
