Today I saw a video of a presentation that showed pressure mapping gait with EMG fused into Dartfish. It was a game changer. Instead of showing a compensation of a hip while hopping why not show the workout program and the field tests? Currently stiffness is all the rage but what field tests could help this without resorting to exotic isolated tests? I think EMG is great for clinical settings but I think the EMG data needs to drive field tests more. For example a good single leg hop test for speed can be cross referenced to other power data. I love field tests as they are also good training methods so you don’t loose a day. I will attach the field tests sheet I just got this weekend after I clean up the tables. Wireless EMG is not perfect but the patterns are precise so you can interpret changes between right and left leg and over time. More to come later.
