The USTFCCCA offers a great publication (available online at no cost) that really makes a nice impact. The articles are written by coaches, and the information is very good and it was nice to see some great coaches contributing to the publication. I was reading Andy Eggerth’s article on block set-up and it was nice to see his views of the application of power regarding the use of of the power clean. He warns specifically not to stomp on the ground, citing usually premature lifting of the feet will cause a poor use of leg power. Also, Andy points out some important considerations regarding spatial awareness and transfer regarding harnessed running, something often talked about but not articulated as finely as his summary. The magazine is light reading (no excessive sport science) with no fluff or informercial like articles that you see online now. To view the online magazine click here.
