Many coaches call the unstable surface training propriodeception, with an emphasis on prop and Deception. Are we better from it? I don’t see evidence of legions of Barry Sanders Factories out of schools, or ACLs spoke as an ancient history like polio is today. The realities are that exercises are often Coaches Candy to many as they give instant gratification but have no real nutritional value. Do we need more exercises? Sometimes new ones make things obsolete or refine existing ones. Unfortunately most are just helping coaches entertrain instead of making an impact. Do we need more than single leg exercises and pause based plyometrics? How do we measure the impact of all of the foam pads and other devices? I don’t know but I think if it looks right it flys right is a good start. Lately we have pre-teen westside splits and balance work for professionals and I don’t think this is the direction we need.
