While many in New England are waking up to the sports page obituaries, I have to give credit to Rex Ryan for beating the Patriots. The players made the plays, but this coach did something special. This game reminded me of their last Superbowl. It was erie as the emotions can be nearly felt through the plasma TV from the jets. While I would be a little surprised if they beat the Steelers, I wouldn’t be shocked if they made it to Dallas. One thing that crossed my mind this morning is the human side of coaching. It’s not Xs and Os all the time. Rex prepared his team strategically but I think Byrd’s presence was the most important card played yesterday. Coaching is about relationships, an area where psychology often will trump physiology if done right.
