Hurdle Mobility is a great tool for opening up the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex in a dynamic manner. It’s also great for strengthening the hip flexors, rotators, and stabilizers. It can also be used to diagnose problems from mobility asymmetries to early onset overtraining syndromes. I have hurdle mobility routines that I use to teach pattern regulation and regularity, others to teach remedial hurdling concepts, others as an active way of working on agility and coordination while warming up the hip musculature, and still others used for enhancing balance and coordination.
