Simply put, a circuit allows coaches to get a lot of work down in an efficient manner to increase work capacity, but what real adaptations are we getting? While we all know nobody is going to be worried to get tested right after a trip through German Volume Training, what are the physiological responses? Not to oversimplify, most want to organize training, use time efficiently, and help address body composition issues. Some are using circuits for simulating MMA environments, doing mobility exercises, and trying to fit in stuff in one hour to appear like they are doing a lot. Circuits have laws and must be purposeful as it seems people have the license to do anything they want like some sort of Wild West when they add in the word circuit to their training. To get on track, a great resource is Circuit Training for All Sports by Scholich.
