Several professional teams are using the Tekscan in-shoe system for good reason, gait analysis is part of big data and we are getting closer to drilling down to the causes of injury. The very holistic Jose Fernandez did a nice job sharing his integration of various sensors to solve problems. Managing fatigue is nice, but fatigue exposes athletes to their biomechanical faults. Some are not easily modified and some are just imperfections that can’t be massaged, mobilized, stretched, strengthened, or even fixed mechanically. I find it a great sign of progress that Craig Liebenson included Tom’s book on gait mechanics for his status update. As coaches and therapists start seeing movement beyond screens, we will see more improvements in injury reduction and performance.
