I think some good changes are going to happen for the Red Sox organization with the hiring of Mike Boyle. The question is will the culture change with Baseball and modern developments to training? Honestly I think it’s a perfect fit for the team and the culture of baseball to get Mike involved. No sport is in more need of change than baseball. Unless the rumor is just internet hype, it’s likely going to be announced officially that Mike will be directing performance in the next few days. Getting guys to be fit is not going to be easy, and the question is how long is the honeymoon going to last? I expect injuries to remain the same because of compliance issues and travel, not because of coaching or training. The sport is unique and I hope the Sox take advantage of the position and finally get the guy in shape instead of relying on magical jewelry.
